Wednesday 1/29/2020 Rehearsal

Hi Singers,

Quick note as I get ready to drive south Tuesday morning to greet my new granddaughter when she arrives. There WILL BE REHEARSAL on Wednesday. Karen, Suzi, Ovid, and Andrew will hopefully be able to go through music and work with the respective sections.

These are the things I would love you to try to cover:
  • Trees - Review the parts, making sure to circle/highlight all breaths, dynamics and tempi changes
  • Spatherbst - Review the parts we worked on last week and try with German. Have Karen confirm and questions about pronunciation
  • Abenlied  and Warumb - Go through parts on doo - make sure of pronunciation
  • Bumble Bee - See if you can wade through this to the end
  • Sicut cervus - Go through this with the words
  • Any thing else if you have time.
Thanks so much and see you in a week.
Ted

I'll be sending an email with the repertoire list attached.

Happy 2020!!!

Dear Singers,
First of all, I want to commend you all on the fantastic job you did at both concerts in December. You sang masterfully. I have listened to the recording that Chuck made repeatedly and have smiled with pride of your accomplishment. The Lobet den Herrn was particularly brilliant! Definitely worth the time and effort, despite "too many notes." We also had the highest attendance at our performances ever with a total of 430 at combined venues and 258 (232 is capacity) at Mont La Salle. (At our board meeting on Friday we will be discuss the potential need of having an additional performance.) I have received rave reviews ever since.
I also want to thank those of you who participated in the Christmas Eve service at Mont La Salle. You made it an absolutely wonderful program this year and again, I have had people from the chapel lauding the beautiful music you provided. Thank you so much!
I want to remind you that our first rehearsal will be next Wednesday, January 15, 6:30-8:30 pm at Harvest Middle School. We will be welcoming Berkeley Rousseau back, but unfortunately will not have Annie Budash. Annie wrote me today saying that she is making some transitions in her life, namely planning a move away, which will preclude her from participating. She asked that I tell you, actually her words are, "please let them know how grateful I feel to have known them and hope to be at the concert!"
I, this evening, put in the order for our music for our spring concert, Song of the Woods. It will be music praising the glory of nature ranging from Palestrina's Sicut Cervus to an arrangement of The Lion Sleeps to Tonight to Brahm's Four Quartets Op. 92, to a song called Mosquitos. Speaking of which, if you have copies of Sicut Cervus from before, please bring it. I will have copies from public domain for those who don't.
Please make sure you have the following dates in your calendars:
  • Wednesday, January 15, 2020 6:30-8:30 - First Rehearsal - Harvest Middle School
  • Saturday, March 22, 2020 9:00 am - 3:30 pm - Bell Canto Boot Camp - TBD
  • Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30 - 6:30 - 8:30 - Dress Rehearsal - TBD
  • Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, May 1-3 - CONCERTS
I can't wait to see you all and to start making beautiful music together again.
Ted
